Who We Are
Alutiiq Manufacturing Contractors, LLC (AMC) is wholly owned by Alutiiq, LLC, a subsidiary of Afognak Native Corporation, an Alaska Native Corporation formed under the Alaskan Native Claims Settlement Act. AMC designs homes, and provides training and jobs specifically targeting Alaska's rural communities. The homes utilize an innovative new technology designed specifically for rural Alaska and harsh weather conditions and also provide a significant cost advantage. Homes are constructed in a plant located at Port MacKenzie, Alaska, and utilize a customized stacking system for shipment by barge to rural communities.

The training and jobs program affords rural workers the flexibility to maintain their traditional lifestyle while working within a facility located at an economic center on a year-round rotational schedule.

What We Do
At Port MacKenzie exists a plant meeting the needs of both bush housing and its workforce. Alutiiq Manufacturing Contractors, a majority Native owned company operates a modern production facility specializing in the construction of homes that are uniquely designed to stand up to the demands of rural Alaska. The indoor production facility means that new homes can be built year round. The plant is designed to build one house every two days. The unique integrated structural system allows each home to be built in one unit and economically transported by barge to rural communities.

In addition to creating homes sensitive to the demands of the bush, Alutiiq Manufacturing Contractors also meets the needs of the rural workforce by implementing a training and employment program. A rotating work schedule allows workers and trainees to maintain a traditional lifestyle at home while gaining valuable skills and income at the plant facility.

Not only do residents of rural areas gain skills from working with the plant, they also obtain the satisfaction of watching homes they helped build being setup within their community.

Our Location
The
Alutiiq Manufacturing Contractors' plant is located at Port MacKenzie, 38 miles from Wasilla and 2 miles from the Port of Anchorage. Homes are trucked to the port and loaded by crane onto the barges. The barges then travel to the outlying villages.

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough is planning future upgrades to the port which will include a natural gas line, the construction of a ferry landing and terminal building, and a deep-draft dock.
